I agree! You can't build a good system for someone without getting their input. I want to do some outreach to our students and find out how they use technology to see if I can collect any info that might point me towards something to implement or change (or discontinue). But when this first came up, I was told that it hadn't worked somewhere else in such a way that indicated that meant it wouldn't work here. I put the idea aside for the time being (it was right when I started) but I intend to go back to it.

As for Facebook and MySpace pages - I'm still not sure about their usefulness. We have one for my library (I just recently made it into a page, it was originally a profile) and I am trying to look at it as a way to aggregate useful information about the library in one place -- hours, announcements, etc. We'll see how it goes.

Six?! Geez I wonder how many American adults consider US Weekly/People/TV Guide as their main source of literature. I've read about 36 of these books but I liked the list because I am going to use it to get me some books at the library. Yay!

I keep a book at the kitchen table to read at breakfast, one at work to read at lunch, and another on the bedside table to read in the evenings. By associating a story with a time, it's easier for me to keep them straight.

I swear, some of the modern bestsellers on there are just throwaways to boost the spirits of the public. ;P
I also have no idea if this really came from the NEA. Look at me, passing along unresearched memes. For shame!
