I have four years’ experience working with educational, scholarly, and trade texts, proofreading, copyediting, writing marketing copy, and everything in between. I specialize in humanities and soft-side educational texts, as well as trade non-fiction.
My love for and knowledge of the English language, along with my conscientious attention to detail, ensure I don’t miss a single missing semicolon.
I read style guides for fun, and can work within a variety of specialized and house styles, as well as with Chicago and AP.
I have a good ear and a lot of respect for an author’s voice–I won’t make unnecessary edits that change your tone and your personal style.

Some Projects I’ve worked on
Light copyediting and proofreading of Leadership Skills for Women by Norma Carr-Ruffino, published by Pearson Custom Publishing, November, 2007.
Staff Copyeditor, Library Student Journal
This is a volunteer position for the open access, peer reviewed journal for students in the Library and Information Science field. LSJ follows APA Style. Articles I’ve copyedited include Fortini, “Going Online: Academic Libraries and the Move From Print to Electronic Journals,” and Fitzgibbons, ” Human Resources Management in the Development of Information Commons in Academic Libraries.”
The Pearson Custom Library Introduction to Literature
This extensive collection of classic and contemporary literature allows professors to create their own custom textbooks for their literature courses. My work on this project included proofreading over 1700 pages of manuscript, light copyediting of over 35 biographical headnotes, and writing pedagogical material for several short stories and poems. I also worked extensively on catalogs and marketing materials, proofreading, formatting, writing marketing copy, and creating online order forms and marketing materials.
Meridians: Sources in World History
This project, a customizable reader of secondary and primary sources for courses in World History and World Civilizations, involved extensive and complicated proofreading of hundreds of articles and original source material, knowing when to maintain original formatting and when to edit for house style and consistency. This project also involved work on catalogs and marketing materials, including proofreading, formatting, writing marketing copy, and creating online order forms and marketing materials.
Literature and Society: An Introduction to Fiction, Poetry, Drama, and Nonfiction by Pam Annas and Robert Rosen (Prentice Hall)
As a research assistant to Pamela Annas of the University of Massachusetts, Boston, I wrote pedagogical questions and materials for several poems, plays, and short stories. I also assisted with the creation of the Glossary of Literary Terms, writing definitions and narrowing down the list of terms that should be included.
